careforafrica 2010 fundraiser
CareforAfrica is holding a Cocktail Party on Saturday 1st May at The Boat House, Launceston. The money raised will be used to build our much needed Resource Centre.
The Resource Centre will be built in the Tarime Township. We have 2 shipping containers laden with books, puzzles, posters and many other educational aids, which have been generously donated by many school children, families, teachers and people of our local Launceston Community, to fill the Centre. The teachers from Tarime, especially in the outlying communities, will be able to borrow these invaluable aids to take to their deprived schools to assist with their teaching. When we visit the schools in the outlying communities of Tarime, we see many schools with absolutely no books and educational aids. The maths classes are taught by teachers using stones. We see many children, especially the orphans, with nothing to write in or with. The safe arrival of our containers will mean pens, pencils, exercise books and much needed goods for these beautiful children who long for a better opportunity in life.
Please come and show your support for the needy people of Tarime. We all know that education is the way to escape poverty.
