Opening the containers at Kenyan/Tanzanian BoarderThe Launceston community collected approximately $300,000 worth of vital educational and medical equipment for Tarime in 2010. Various school communities, in particular The Launceston Church Grammar School (co-ordinated by Allison Bassano), Youngtown Primary (co-ordinated by Wendy Dalton) and Sacred Heart (co-ordinated by Alison Smith) worked particularly hard to allow the fruition of our successful container project.

The medical equipment went to The Tarime Goodwill Foundation Hospital which is run by Dr Hudson Winani.

The educational aids and resources went to many outlying community schools in Tarime, The Tarime Goodwill Foundation Seconday School (which is currently being built by Dr Winani) and to the CareforAfrica Education Resource Centre (which will be built shortly).

Safe clean water has been provide to 3600 people in the Surubu Community, Tarime by our team.

The women and children would walk up to 8 kms twice a day to collect water for their families. The water would always be  infected with ecoliwater well in surubu causing diarrhoea related diseases and dehydration. Often the water would also be infected with typhoid and choera. Unclean water is the major cause of illness and death in the communities of Taime.

The girls of Surubu no longer have to miss hours from valuable schooling, the mothers can spend more time at home with their children, as well as time developing business to help their families.

SAFE CLEAN WATER WILL ALWAYS FLOW FOR THE PEOPLE OF SURUBU.

WELL DONE, WE HAVE CHANGED THE LIVES OF 3600 PEOPLE IN AFRICA.

The boys are also going to peg out a netball court at the school. A netball court will be built when the container arrives with the equipment in it. The girls want to learn sport, so we are going to teach them netball.

Jack is going to organise to do a mural on the school. He will have 8 students from the Surubu school to help him. He will start his mural once the containers arrive with the paints. Jack is organised to do murals on 8 outlying poor schools in Tarime.
