We are preparing once again for the event of the year! Our very popular annual Cocktail Ball!

Last year was our biggest year ever raising a total of $38,000 which contributed to a community centre in Tarime being built.

Save the date!

We are planning the cocktail event as we speak and have pencilled in the 6th September 2014 at the Tailrace. Save this date in your calendar as an event not to be missed!

Where will the funds raised go?

This year CfA will dedicate the event proceeds of the Cocktail Ball to the installation of water wells in target communities in Tarime. Care for Africa have identified rural communities that have no readily accessible sources of clean safe drinking water, improving this situation is a high priority for these communities, CfA and the local Government in Tarime.

Women and children in these communities walk as far as 16km daily with 20L cans to access water from sources, which are often stagnant dry waterbeds and shared by animals. The water collected can contain high levels of e coli, typhoid and occasionally cholera, which greatly increases the morbidity and mortality rates for the community and is the leading case of infant mortality.

Consequently school attendance is reduced and women are not free to pursue other activities. This leads to an increased cycle of poverty, reduced level of education and opportunities for income generation and restricted access to basic health care.

How can you help?

If you are interested in supporting this worthwhile cause we are looking for silent auction items and also major items valued over $500.00 which will be included in the live auction held by David Jackson. We would also appreciate any cash donations no matter how small to help us achieve our fundraising goal for 2014.
