We cannot thank our volunteers enough, especially those who donate significant time and money to travel to Tarime, Tanzania to work directly with the communities. The team of nine professionals worked closely and effectively together with our Tanzanian staff, they achieved record numbers in the number of children seen in the clinics this year. The impact of (and for) this team has been immense.

Join our international volunteer program. Each year we select a group of volunteers for 4-6weeks to work alongside our Tanzanian counterparts in remote Tarime, Tanzania. Volunteers join our health team and conduct the Rural School Health Clinics. If you are a Doctor, Nurse, Paramedic or Teacher we would love to hear from you! We also seek general volunteers who are keen to assist in the administration of the health clinics and have an eye for detail and enjoy collecting data.
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Without the generous contribution of skilled professionals and passionate individuals from Australia, our programs in Tarime would not be possible.

My first trip had been in 2013 and I was keen to see the changes that Care for Africa had brought to this community. From small beginnings in Launceston and a desire to bring change, it was inspirational to see the growth of this organisation. In 2013, I got up early to witness the women, who had walked many kilometres to collect undrinkable water from rancid water holes. In 2018 women and children gathered around easily accessible water wells, pumping clean water and enjoying community chatter whilst their children played happily alongside. My main role was to support the Tanzanian Medical team, led by Phales Buluma, the Care for Africa team conducted rural health clinics in seven schools, providing over 4000 students and community families with health checks, I truly enjoyed and valued this experience.
